Disney+ show titled Star Wars: The Acolyte adds Amandla Stenberg to its cast. The show is expanding the Star Wars universe by being set in the furthest past, going back before the events of the Phantom Menace. The announcement was made on Star War’s official Twitter around the time when San Diego Comic-Con was taking place.

Leslye Headland, known for co-creating the Emmy-nominated Russian Doll, is confirmed to be developing the show along with Rayne Roberts.

The announcement was also confirmed by the actress with an Instagram post where she was seen posing with a replica of R2D2. She was spotted wearing a T-shirt with Darth Maul on it, a notorious Sith lord in the Star Wars universe, raising speculation that she could be playing a Sith character herself.

The series will reportedly take place in the 'high republic era', a time when the Jedi had more power and prominence while the Sith were considered all but eradicated. Even though Lucasfilm has kept details regarding the plot under tight wraps, it is reported that the series will revolve around the rise of those with a stronger connection to the dark side of the force.

Details regarding the rest of the cast, story, and release date are yet to emerge.
