Director Michael Sarnoski has replaced Jeff Nichols as the director of the upcoming untitled A Quiet Place spinoff film. Nichols had exited the project amicably last year, to work on an unnamed sci-fi film for Paramount.

A Quiet Place franchise,  headlined by John Krasinski (the franchise creator and director) and his wife Emily Blunt, follows the Abbott family, who have to protect themselves from aliens in a post-apocalyptic world. The second instalment, which was released last year, opened up the universe beyond the Abbott family. Though there is no information regarding the plot of the spinoff film, it is speculated that the film won't follow the Abbotts.

It remains unclear if the spinoff film will retain Sarnoski's developed script or if a fresh draft will be written.

Director Sarnoski shot to fame following the release of his 2021 suspense thriller Pig starring Nicolas Cage.
