Actor MJ (Michaela Jaé) Rodriguez has created history by becoming the first transgender actor to win a Golden Globe. On Monday, the actor was named the Best Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in the hit television show Pose.

This also makes Rodriguez the first black transgender actor to win a Golden Globe. Reacting to the news, Rodriguez took to Instagram and wrote: "OMG OMGGG!!!! @goldenglobes Wow! You talking about sickening birthday present! Thank you! This is the door that is going to Open the door for many more young talented individuals. (sic)"

"They will see that it is more than possible. They will see that a young Black Latina girl from Newark New Jersey who had a dream, to change the minds others would WITH LOVE. LOVE WINS. To my young LGBTQAI babies WE ARE HERE the door is now open now reach the stars!!!!! @goldenglobes, (sic)" she added.

The actor further spoke about her fellow nominees, which includes the likes of Uzo Adaubo for In Treatment and Jennifer Aniston for her role in The Morning Show. "To the nominees we are Queens. I'm so happy to share space with you! Each and every last one of you women are phenomenal," wrote Rodriguez.

This year's Golden Globe Awards were announced on Twitter, and the awards were neither televised nor streamed online. MJ Rodriguez's win comes at a time when the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is hot water for its lack of diversity.
