Chehre trailer out: Amitabh Bachchan puts Emraan Hashmi on trial

CE Features

A car winds down a mountainside in a blizzard. A tree falls, and the passenger is ushered into a nearby mansion. The host (Amitabh Bachchan) is a criminal lawyer — possibly retired. “What do you do?” he asks his new guest. “I’m an ad agency chief,” replies the man, and, since he’s played by Emraan Hashmi, we get a shot of him at a bar making eyes at Krystle D'Souza.

Thus begins the trailer for Chehre, a new mystery thriller directed by Rumy Jafry. Once at the mansion, Karan (Emraan) is introduced to the other habitués. Every evening, after dinner, they play a little game—“A mock trial,” explains a turbaned Annu Kapoor. The rules are simple: Karan will be put on trial, and pieces of his life will be picked apart by the assembled sleuths. Masks will fall, secrets will emerge, and Big B will strain his heavy baritone on a medley of legal jargon. “This decadence of human values has to stop!” he blares near the end, as if admonishing Emraan for all the sexed-up characters he has played.

“The audience will relate to the presence of every character on the screen,” director Rumy Jafry said. “All the actors that we have cast in the film are some of the best actors in the industry and I am sure that this film will always be recognized for their performance and especially the dialogues. We have maintained the equilibrium between all the characters which has helped to uphold the mystery till the very end.”

Chehre is scheduled for release on April 9. You can watch the trailer here:
