The makers of Mission Mangal have unveiled a new trailer of the film. The 2-minute-11-second trailer sheds light on the individual journeys of the space scientists behind ISRO’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM).

Following a disastrous launch, Mission Director Akshay Kumar is swarmed by reporters. Unfettered, he swallows failure with laddoos and heads on. Vidya Balan charges forth as the optimistic Tara Shinde, a scientist who believes in God and in forces “beyond science.” We also see Taapsee Pannu’s navigation expert taking driving lessons, and Sonakshi Sinha’s propulsion scientist scheming to leave India. Sharman Joshi plays the faltering new recruit, who is shown the door midway through the trailer.

Mission Mangal is directed by debutant Jagan Shakti. The film also stars Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, HG Dattatreya and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. The music is composed by Amit Trivedi with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Co-produced by A Cape of Good Films, Hope Productions and Fox Star Studios, Mission Mangal is scheduled for release on August 15.
