CE Features

In the latest edition of Time Pass, filmmaker Ramesh Sippy spoke in length with senior journalist Kaveree Bamzai and Entertainment Editor of TNIE Sudhir Srinivasan about his classic film Sholay, how it was received by the critics, the reasons that made it a blockbuster and more.

"I wanted to show the death of Gabbar but the censors didn't like how we had shot it. They didn't want police officers being shown to take law into their hands. It was a point of controversy, and remember that it was a time of Emergency. And then, of course, there was the hue and cry over Amitabh’s death," says Ramesh.
