Actor Anil Murali passes away aged 56

Reports say he was undergoing treatment for liver ailments at a private hospital in Kochi

Malayalam actor Anil Murali passed away today at a private hospital in Kochi at the age of 56. Reports indicate he was undergoing treatment for a liver ailment.

Born as the son of Muraleedharan Nair and Sreekumari Amma in Thiruvananthapuram, Anil Murali began his career by acting in TV serials and made his film debut with Kanyakumariyil Oru Kavitha in 1993.

In the following year, he appeared in Lenin Rajendran's award-winning Daivathinte Vikruthikal. He has acted in mostly supporting roles in over 200 films in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu.

He was part of the serial Kadamattathu Kathanar and his notable Malayalam films include Valkannadi, Baba Kalyani, Twenty 20, City of God, Iyobinte Pusthakam, Amen, Joseph, and Uyare. His last film was the Tovino Thomas-starrer Forensic. He is also part of Dileep's yet-to-be-released Professor Dinkan.

In Tamil, some of the popular films in which he acted were 6, Thani Oruvan, and Kodi.

Following the news of Anil Murali's demise, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Biju Menon, and Asif Ali shared their condolences on social media.

Anil is survived by wife Suma and children Adithya and Arundathi.
