The upcoming film Dear Astronaut, starring Sowmith, Shreyasi Sen and Kamal Kamaraju, is directed by Karthik Bhagyaraja, while his wife, Manasvini Bhagyaraja, is producing it under the Yuvan Krishna Entertainments banner. Interestingly, the makers initially shot the film with Varun Sandesh and Vithika Sheru as the lead pair, but later scrapped that footage and shot the film afresh with a new cast. The makers recently unveiled a song from the film and announced that it will hit the screens on November 20.
Popular director Sekhar Kammula attended the song launch event as the chief guest and wished the team success. He said the core concept of building a narrative around the aspiration of becoming an astronaut was refreshing. He also appreciated the female lead's performance. “The film delivers a strong message encouraging audiences to dream big and work towards achieving those ambitions,” said Sekhar. He further added that the production values and technical standards looked remarkably rich and expressed confidence that Dear Astronaut would stand out as a memorable cinematic attempt.
Geetha Bhaskar, mother of popular actor and director Tharun Bhascker, plays an important role in Dear Astronaut. She said that she got her identity through Sekhar Kammula and described Dear Astronaut as an inspiring film. “It's a thought-provoking film that will inspire many and definitely enthral audiences,” said Geetha Bhaskar.
Interestingly, the makers initially began shooting the film with the real-life couple Varun Sandesh and Vithika Sheru and even released a teaser a few months ago. However, it appears that they scrapped all the footage and started afresh with a new cast. The team did not explain why they changed the entire cast and restarted the project. Director Karthik Bhagyaraja was also absent from the song launch event as he is based in the USA.
Lead actress Shreyasi Sen expressed happiness over playing an inspiring role in a tender love story, while lead actor Sowmith stated that the movie balances all the essential emotions, allowing viewers to connect deeply with each character.
The film features an ensemble cast comprising Sowmith, Shreyasi Sen, Kamal Kamaraju, Geetha Bhaskar, Chaitra and Gautham Vasudev Menon. Produced under the Yuvan Krishna Entertainments and Manasvini Bhagyaraja banners, the film has editing by Marthand K Venkatesh and music by Karthik B Kodakandla. Dear Astronaut is scheduled to arrive in cinemas worldwide on November 20.
