Among other projects in his home turf, actor Shivarajkumar has some non-Kannada films made on a big scale, including Jailer 2 and Peddi. At a promotional event earlier this Saturday, the actor spoke about the upcoming film, co-starring Ram Charan and directed by Buchi Babu Sana.
"I liked the subject soon after Buchi Babu sir narrated it to me, and I spoke to Ram Charan on the same day," Shivarajkumar said. However, the actor had a cancer diagnosis subsequently and had to go to the USA for his treatment. He added that he thought about opting out of the film because of his health condition, but the Peddi makers awaited his comeback from the USA for the shoot of the film.
"Buchi Babu sir said, 'No, we want you.' So sweet of him, and they waited for me. I am very thankful to him for the beautiful gesture. It has been a wonderful journey," the actor said at the event.
Regarding Peddi, Shivarajkumar said that the upcoming film explores everything a man faces in his life journey in a very natural way. He added that the film's subject deals with the relationships that the protagonist shares with others whom he meets in his journey. He also said that the film gives a message to society. It has "wonderful writing by Buchi Babu sir," the actor stated about the upcoming film.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, the film also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu, and Mirzapur star Divyenndu in his Telugu debut. Recently, the makers of the film dropped a song featuring Shruti Haasan performing a special dance alongside Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor.
On the technical front, the film has composer AR Rahman, editor Navin Nooli, cinematographer Ratnavelu, and production designer Avinash Kolla. It is slated for a June 04 release in theatres.
