Tovino Thomas is currently in Hyderabad to promote his upcoming film Pallichattambi, which is scheduled to release on April 10. Directed by Dijo Jose Antony, the film is also being released in Telugu on the same date with the same title. Kayadu Lohar plays the female lead in the film.

Pallichattambi is a period drama inspired by real incidents that took place in Kerala during the 1950s. Speaking about the film, Tovino said that both he and director Dijo Jose Antony had been planning the project for several years.

“Dijo and I have wanted to make this film for a long time, and it has finally happened. The story is set in the 1950s, so we did a lot of research to recreate that era authentically. We have presented a story from that period in a way that will appeal to audiences in 2026,” said Tovino.

The actor added that a film like this can only be made with a passionate team behind it. “Dijo and I are already discussing more projects together. He became a very good friend during the making of this film,” he said. Tovino also praised producers Charan, Chaitanya and Chanakya for working together to turn their dream into reality.

“Without producers like Noufal and Brijesh, a dream project like Pallichattambi would not have been completed. They are the backbone of this film,” he said. Telugu actor Shatru is making his Malayalam debut with the film, and Tovino appreciated the effort he put into the role. “He plays an important character in the film and delivered all his Malayalam dialogues on his own. He has also become a good friend,” said Tovino.

Speaking about his co-star Kayadu Lohar, Tovino said that she worked very hard to prepare for the role. “I could see her passion for acting. Working in multiple languages at the same time is not easy, but she is impressing audiences everywhere. I am happy to have worked with such a co-star,” he said.

During the media interaction, Tovino Thomas also confirmed that he is no longer part of Jr NTR and Prashanth Neel’s upcoming film Dragon. According to sources, a few scenes had already been shot with Tovino, but the makers are now said to be considering another actor for the role. When asked if he was not part of the project, Tovino said, “It is very difficult to allocate dates, so I am not doing that project.”
