Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu met deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan in Mumbai, where the latter underwent a surgery for his right arm. Chandrababu Naidu enquired about Pawan Kalyan's operation and current health status. Before that, the actor cum Deputy Chief Minister underwent surgery in Mumbai on Saturday morning to treat severe rotator cuff injuries in both his shoulders.

The actor is suffering with pain in the last few weeks and after the medical examinations, doctors found that the injuries had worsened significantly and advised him to undergo surgery at the earliest. However, Pawan Kalyan requested the doctors to postpone the procedure until he completed his scheduled official commitments.

Doctors explained that operating on both shoulders simultaneously would result in unbearable pain during recovery. Therefore, they advised that the surgery was first performed on his right shoulder on Saturday and the surgery lasted approximately three and a half hours. Doctors have advised that the left shoulder will require surgery after about two months.

The actor-turned-politician first sustained shoulder injury in 2016. When he met doctors about the injury, they advised him a complete rest after initial treatment, but he continued attending public meetings and political programmes.

In 2018, the actor went to many public events where the enthusiastic Jana Sena Party workers and supporters would frequently rush towards him, grab his hands and pull them while trying to greet him. Despite experiencing severe pain, he endured it without complaint.

With that those injuries were repeatedly aggravated and after the 2019 elections, while visiting Madanapalle and other parts of Rayalaseema to interact with tomato farmers, supporters would shake hands with him and hug him warmly, further worsening his shoulder condition.

The same situation occurred during the Varahi Yatra and the Assembly election campaign in 2024, where thousands of supporters crowded around him to greet him with handshakes, putting additional strain on his shoulders. In April this year, when Pawan Kalyan underwent surgery for a nasal issue, doctors conducted a series of medical examinations. Those tests revealed severe rotator cuff injuries and muscle tears in both shoulders.

Doctors were reportedly surprised that he had been carrying out his demanding political and official responsibilities despite such serious injuries. They advised immediate surgery.

Following further consultations in Mumbai a few weeks ago, the medical team decided to perform surgery on his right shoulder on Saturday. He is currently under the observation of doctors and is recovering.
