After the debacle of Agent, Akhil Akkineni took a considerable break from films. He is now back in action with his upcoming project Lenin, and after a long silence, the makers have finally shared an update. It has been officially announced that the first single from the film will be released on January 5.

On the occasion of New Year, the team unveiled a new poster featuring Akhil Akkineni and simultaneously confirmed the release date of the first song. Music for the film will be composed by S Thaman.

After a gap of nearly three years, Akhil signed Lenin, which is being directed by Murali Kishor Abburu. The film is being produced by Nagarjuna Akkineni along with Naga Vamsi under the banner of Sithara Entertainments.

Initially, actress Sreeleela was signed on as the female lead, and a few scenes were also shot with her. However, due to her packed schedule, she exited the project, and Bhagyashri Borse was brought in as her replacement. On Akhil’s birthday, April 8, 2025, the makers released a brief teaser, which generated curiosity and anticipation around Lenin.

With the announcement of the first single, the makers have signalled progress on the project. Lenin is expected to be a crucial film in Akhil's career.

Set in Rayalaseema, Lenin is said to be an action-packed period drama rooted in rural life. According to sources, the film deals with intense themes such as honor killings. To bring authenticity to his role, Akhil Akkineni reportedly underwent training to master the Rayalaseema dialect.
