Actor Sree Vishnu’s latest film Vishnu Vinyasam was released on Friday. Starring Nayan Sarika as the female lead and directed by Yadunaath Maruthi Rao, the film is produced by Sumanth Naidu and Subramanyam. On Saturday, Sree Vishnu and the producers shared a shocking revelation about the film’s journey to release. They disclosed that the film had been leaked online in December while it was still under production.
“The reason we rushed everything — from promotions to the release — is because the film was leaked in December,” said Sree Vishnu. “The producer called me and informed me about the leak. Initially, I didn’t understand what exactly had happened. Later, I came to know that an unfinished version of the film had been uploaded online,” he added.
According to the actor, the leaked version was incomplete and not even fully edited. “The film was only half-baked at that time, and we hadn’t even finalized or unveiled the title. The person who leaked the video began blackmailing our producers. However, they stood firm and handled the situation with great courage. I truly appreciate them for that,” Sree Vishnu said.
The team immediately approached the Anti-Piracy Cell of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce and the Producers’ Guild and also filed a police complaint. Fortunately, since the title had not been revealed at the time of the leak, the issue did not initially attract widespread attention.
“We came to know that the video was leaked from Chennai,” Sree Vishnu revealed, adding that the matter is still under investigation. He pointed out that similar incidents have happened with other big films in recent months. “This is a very sensitive and dangerous issue. Producers invest huge amounts of money, and incidents like this can cause massive losses,” he said.
Explaining the hurried release, Sree Vishnu said, “If you remember, two of my films were scheduled to release around the same time. Because of this situation, I requested the producer of my other film, Mruthyunjay, to postpone its release by a week, and they kindly agreed. We completed nearly 20 days’ worth of work in just seven days, working day and night to finish Vishnu Vinyasam.”
He added that the team had no time to spare and immediately began promotions before releasing the film on February 27. “We are relieved now,” he said. However, he mentioned that the producers continued receiving blackmail messages even just before the film’s release. “They were shaken, but they faced everything bravely. We received strong support from the Telugu film industry, especially from the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce,” he noted.
Producer Subramanyam revealed that the leaked video was viewed by approximately 20,000 to 50,000 people. “Since the title wasn’t included, many did not realize which film it was. We tracked down the source using a phone number and, with the help of a technical team, managed to remove the videos one by one,” he explained.
He further stated that the file had been sent to Chennai without a security lock, which led to the leak. “We were shaken at first, but gradually we gathered strength and fought the situation. Finally, the film has been released, and we are happy,” said Subramanyam.
Despite the tense circumstances, the team managed to overcome the crisis and bring Vishnu Vinyasam to theatres, turning a challenging situation into a story of resilience and determination.
