The Varun Tej-starrer Korean Kanakaraju was released in theatres on August 7 and received a positive response. After several years and films, actor Varun Tej scored a much-needed commercial success with this film, directed by Merlapaka Gandhi. Ritika Nayak played the female lead, while UV Creations and Rajiv Reddy jointly produced the film.

Comedian Satya played an important role, and his comedy is one of the highlights of the film. Satya’s comedy and punchlines, along with Varun Tej’s performance, helped the film receive positive reviews. Now, the film is all set to make its OTT premiere less than a month after its theatrical release. Korean Kanakaraju will start streaming on Netflix from September 4 in Telugu and other languages.

The story of Korean Kanakaraju revolves around Kanakaraju, played by Varun Tej, a youngster from Penukonda, Andhra Pradesh, who falls in love with Chaitra, played by Ritika Nayak, who works at KIA Motors. Chaitra is fascinated by Korean culture and dreams of going to Korea.

A small jar containing the ashes of a Korean person accidentally reaches Penukonda and ends up at a bar in the small town, where the owner keeps it on display like an old artefact.

One day, Kanakaraju pours alcohol into the jar and drinks it along with the ashes. The Korean soul then possesses Kanakaraju’s body, and his behaviour starts changing. How does Kanakaraju deal with the soul with the help of his friend Kishtappa, played by Satya? What happens next, and how do Kanakaraju, Kishtappa and Chaitra deal with the soul? What is the actual background of the Korean person?

Director Merlapaka Gandhi mostly relies on comedy for the film, especially Satya, who delivered one of his best performances as a comedian. While the basic story follows a regular comic template, the Korean backdrop gives Korean Kanakaraju a fresh touch, and the film went on to become a good success.

Now, viewers can watch this comic entertainer at home as it starts streaming on Netflix from September 4.
