Actor Pooja Hegde attended the India Day Parade in New York as the Guest of Honour on August 16, Sunday. Calling it "truly an honour and a matter of immense pride," Pooja shared, "There was something incredibly surreal about seeing the streets of New York come alive with so many Indians, proudly celebrating our country and everything that connects us to home."
The actor expressed her gratitude to the Federation of Indian Associations for choosing her as the Guest of Honour. She added, "Thank you to the Federation of Indian Associations for the honour and a beautifully organised event along with the officials of New York. To be there, doing this with you all is a privilege I don’t take lightly. Gratitude for this moment that I’ll carry with me for a long time. Jai Hind."
Pooja Hegde also shared pictures from the event where she can be seen beaming with a pleasant smile and holding a hoisted national flag. She also posed for a picture with an officer of the NYPD's Counterterrorism Bureau. The event is described as the world's largest public celebration of India's Independence Day involving the Indian diaspora.
On the work front, Pooja was most recently seen as Vijay's love interest in Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth. Jana Nayagan earned more than 300 crore from theatres worldwide. The film is set to release on ZEE5 on August 21, Friday.
Pooja Hegde's upcoming projects include Kanchana 4, written and directed by Raghava Lawrence, who also stars in the lead role. The fourth film in the Kanchana franchise also stars Nora Fatehi, Swaksha Iyer, Devadarshini and Kamalesh Jagan. The actor also plays a lead role in Sri Sri, directed by Ravi Nelakuditi and co-starring Dulquer Salmaan.
