The makers of director David Dhawan's upcoming project Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai dropped a new song from the film earlier this Tuesday. It is rather a remix of 'Chunari Chunari,' featuring Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen, from Biwi No 1, the director's own 1999 film. The song features the film's lead actors Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde shaking their legs to the energetic lyrics. The track, titled 'Chunnari Chunnari - Let’s Go,' is sung by IP Singh, Jonita Gandhi, Asees Kaur, Sudhir Yaduvanshi, and Anuradha Sriram. It has a composition by Akshay and IP Singh, who is also credited for additional lyrics.
It is worth noting that a portion from the song features Pooja Hegde in a red frock. Last year, the actor made a special appearance in the song 'Monica' from the Rajinikanth starrer Coolie. The makers of Coolie, including director Lokesh Kanagaraj, revealed back then that the song is a tribute to Italian actor Monica Bellucci.
In fact, Pooja Hegde was told in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India that Monica Bellucci watched the song at the Cannes Film Festival, a revelation that elicited sheer elation from Pooja. "That’s the biggest compliment ever. I’ve actually always loved Monica Bellucci. She was so iconic in her own way for her persona," the actor said about her song in Coolie.
Coming back to Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, the film's makers describe it as "a perfect mix of comedy, love, confusion and family drama." The film also stars Maniesh Paul, Chunky Pandey, Jimmy Shergill, and Mouni Roy. It has a story and screenplay by Yunus Sajawal, in addition to dialogues by Farhad Samji.
Produced by Ramesh Taurani, the film is scheduled for a June 05 release in theatres.
