The trailer of the much-anticipated The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas in the lead, was unveiled on Monday evening. Directed by Maruthi and backed by People Media Factory, the horror fantasy film, which was supposed to be our on December 5 has been officially pushed for a pan-India release on January 9, 2026.

The Raja Saab’s trailer opens with Prabhas in a hypnosis session held by Boman Irani’s character and it blends into trippy visuals with ‘Disco Dancer’ song in the background. As the horror atmosphere builds, we meet Prabhas who plays a light-hearted, go-lucky youngster. He is quirky, sarcastic and is a scared kitty in many situations offering a humorous contrast to his previous action roles.

He and his ensemble including Sathya, Sapthagiri, VTV Ganesh and Prabhas Seenu enter the haunted palace and they get terrified in various scenes. Prabhas’ grandfather is referred to as the ghost and towards the end, Prabhas’ avatar as the grandfather is revealed. It is hinted that he is the titular “Raja Saab” who resides in an upside down world. He states in a royal flair that he is the “Rakshasudu (Demon).”

Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan and Ridhhi Kumar are the female leads and it appears that each character has their own motive and part in the film. Sanjay Dutt plays the antagonist. Visually, The Raja Saab’s trailer showcases several VFX-heavy sequences, with a focus on spectacle where a giant creature, various horrific elements pop out of photos, and a large-scale fight scene is teased where Prabhas switches into the fan-favourite action mode.

The Raja Saab’s technical team has cinematographer Karthik Palani, production designer Rajeevan and editor Kotagiri Venkateshwara Rao, with the production in its final stages. Thaman’s background score, blending horror motifs with commercial rhythms, supports the film’s intended genre mix.

As the film’s director Maruthi announced before, the horror-comedy promises to present an energetic and humorous persona of Prabhas, reminding audiences of his earlier comic roles in Bujjigadu and Ek Niranjan.

Prabhas’ slate includes Spirit with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, an untitled period drama with Hanu Raghavapudi, Salaar 2 and Kalki 2.
