Sujeeth, who began his filmmaking career with a quirky comedy like Run Raja Run (2014), shifted gears towards action-drama with his next two projects — Saaho and the recently-released Pawan Kalyan starrer They Call Him OG. Even as OG has taken a thunderous start at the box office, Sujeeth in a recent interview spoke about how he misses making ‘fun films.’

Speaking to Gulte, Sujeeth reflected on his filmmaking career, as he said, “I genuinely making fun films. Both OG and Saaho are serious dramas. However, my next film will have elements of dark humour.” Sujeeth was referring to his film with Nani, which he will resume working on once Nani wraps up his shoot for The Paradise. The film was announced in April last year.

As a reference point, Sujeeth mentioned the films of Jailer filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar. He said, “I watch Nelson movies, and feel like we should make more movies like those.” Further reflecting on the saturation point of action films, Sujeeth noted, “In 1-2 years, we will eventually come to a saturation point with violence and this genre, so we have to shift from that. I will now make a film like Run Raja Run, films like that have more repeat value.”

Meanwhile, They Call Him OG has emerged as the highest-opening Telugu film of the year. Made on a budget of Rs 250 crores, the film has already garnered more than 150 crores at the box office worldwide, including its record-breaking premiere show run on Wednesday.

Produced by DVV Entertainment, OG also stars Emraan Hashmi in his Telugu film debut besides Priyanka Mohan, Sriya Reddy, Arjun Das, and Prakash Raj in the lead cast. As of 3 pm on Friday, according to Sacnilk, OG has added another 10 crores to its domestic box office collections.
