Sujeeth, fresh off the release of They Call Him OG, has started interacting with the media. In a recent interview with M9, the director disclosed that he was in line to helm a film with Ram Charan, shortly after his 2019 big-budget outing Saaho.
“After Saaho, I planned a film with Charan gaaru. I never wanted to take a break,” Sujeeth revealed, “It was supposed to be against a London backdrop. The project was planned during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, people made big statements that our movies cannot be filmed in other countries. Hence, the project didn’t materialise.”
The untitled project would have marked Sujeeth’s first collaboration with the RRR star. However, the pandemic-era restrictions and shifting industry priorities led to the plan being shelved before it could properly take off.
With OG now out in theatres, Sujeeth is already lining up his next move. He will direct Nani in Bloody Romeo, a project expected to roll once the actor completes The Paradise, currently being shot under Srikanth Odela’s direction.
Meanwhile, They Call Him OG has thrust Pawan Kalyan back into the thick of cinematic discussion. The gangster drama casts the actor as Ojas Gambheera, a man emerging from exile to take on Bombay’s rising underworld don Omi Bhau, played by Emraan Hashmi in his Telugu debut. Priyanka Mohan, Prakash Raj, Sriya Reddy, Arjun Das, Shaam and Harish Uthaman form the supporting ensemble.
Set against the chaos of 1980s Bombay, OG is driven by Sujeeth’s stylised approach, with Ravi K Chandran and Manoj Paramahamsa handling cinematography, Thaman S on music, Navin Nooli on editing and AS Prakash on production design. Produced by DVV Entertainment, the film released worldwide on September 25.
