Ahead of its much-anticipated release, They Call Him OG has hit another snag on the distribution front. Prathyangira Cinemas, the overseas distributor for North America, confirmed that the second half of the film has yet to arrive.
Taking to social media, the team admitted, “2nd half of #TheyCallHimOG still not received. No ETA at this point. We are waiting. Until we get the content on hand, things may not move fast in Canada.”
Adding to the frustration, they also announced that the Tamil version of OG will not be screened in North America due to what they described as “unavoidable content delays.” Their statement read, “However, the Telugu and Hindi versions will be screened across the region as planned. We sincerely regret the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and continued support.”
For a film of this scale, such delays are not unheard of but are always nerve-wracking for distributors and fans alike, especially with paid premieres lined up on September 24 and release day closing in. With Pawan Kalyan headlining the project, expectations have been riding sky-high, and audiences abroad have been waiting to catch the actor in his blood-soaked return to action.
Directed by Sujeeth, OG plants its story in 1980s Bombay, where Emraan Hashmi’s menacing Omi Bhau terrorises politicians, businessmen and ordinary families, including Sriya Reddy’s Geetha. Into this storm strides Ojas Gambheera, played by Pawan Kalyan, abandoning his Japanese exile to reclaim the city with a Katana, rifles and his trademark swagger. Priyanka Mohan plays Kanmani, his wife, while Prakash Raj appears as Satya Dada.
Visually, the film promises plenty of spectacle with cinematographers Ravi K Chandran and Manoj Paramahamsa at the helm, while SS Thaman’s score has already set playlists ablaze. Alongside Kalyan and Hashmi, the cast features Arjun Das, Shaam and Harish Uthaman.
Produced by DVV Entertainment, OG is still slated for its worldwide release on September 25, with Telugu and Hindi audiences in North America expected to go ahead as planned, provided the content is received on time.
