Popular choreographer Sandy Master earned a lot of acclaim recently for his acting performances — first in the Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer Lokah: Chapter 1, then in his Telugu acting debut Kishkindhapuri, where he played a character with negative shades. In a recent media interaction, Sandy Master thanked Lokesh Kanagaraj for giving him a role in Leo, which brought him a lot of attention from filmmakers across the board.

Sandy Master also recalled Lokesh’s brief during the 10-day shoot for Leo. He added, “Lokesh sir told me not to talk to anyone during Leo's shoot. He asked to sit alone and spend time with myself, and said, ‘otherwise you will get relaxed.’ So I would stay in my hotel room, keeping lights off and put on horror-like music to set the mood for my role.” Sandy Master added, “I remain thankful to Lokesh for the Leo role. Because both Lokah: Chapter 1 and Kishkindhapuri directors offered me roles only after watching me in Leo.”

Speaking about his recent films, Sandy Master noted, “My character in Lokah is very subtle, where a lot of the acting is done merely through looks and gestures. In Kishkindhapuri, it was completely opposite style of acting, where I had to be loud and dramatic.”

Sandy Master also shared details about his role in an upcoming production by Pa Ranjith. He added, “The film is set around 1995, and I play a tile polish maker. It’s a very unique role — it’s not a villain, neither a psycho. It’s a very ‘paavam’ kind of character, where it has sentiment in a comic zone. My role in this film will make you cry.”

Sandy Master’s upcoming films also include Kathanar, which stars Jayasurya and Anushka Shetty in the lead, about which the choreographer said, “There is a lot of expectations in Kerala industry about this movie. Jayasurya sir waited for 3 years to get this movie made.”
