We had earlier reported about Roshan headlining the period sports drama titled Champion. On Monday, the makers announced that they are planning to release their film on December 25, on the occasion of Christmas.

The first glimpse of Champion, which was unveiled in March this year on the occasion of Roshan’s birthday, focuses on its protagonist living in the British rule, for whom playing football is just one of the many ways to rebel against the repressive regime. The film will also mark Telugu debut for popular Malayalam actor Anaswara Rajan, who is known for her work in Super Sharanya among others. The film is being produced by Priyanka Dutt, GK Mohan, and Gemini Kiran under the banners of Swapna Cinemas in association with Anandi Art Creations and Concept Films. Zee Studios is onboard as the presenter.

Champion is directed by debutant Pradeep Advaitham, who has previously worked as a script-writer and creator for the comic web-series Save The Tigers.  The technical team includes cinematographer R Madhie and veteran production designer Thota Tharani. Mickey J Meyer, who last composed music for Nani’s HIT 3, is the music director for Champion. More details about the primary cast are yet to be officially announced.

Roshan is the son of veteran actor Meka Srikanth. He made his debut with Pelli SandaD (2021) which received lukewarm reception at the box office.
