Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, the much-anticipated Balakrishna-Boyapati Srini film is all set for a grand theatrical release on December 5. A few days ahead of the release, the makers have completed the censorship formalities for their action-entertainer. Akhanda 2 has received an U/A certificate from the censor board.

Akhanda 2, also starring Samyuktha, promises to be a quintessential Boyapati Srinu spectacle with loads of over-the-top action sequences and violence. The film marks four collaboration between the actor and the director after Simha, Legend, and Akhanda.

The official trailer of Akhanda 2 was unveiled two weeks ago, followed by the launch of their second single, ‘Jajikaya’ which also gave the first glimpse of the film’s female lead Samyuktha. On Friday, the team also released a special ‘Thaandavam’ teaser.

As part of their grand pan-India release plans, the makers are reportedly also planning to release their film in Awadhi, besides Hindi, to particularly cater to the audience segment in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar. It is to be noted that Akhanda continues to enjoy a massive fan following in the Hindi belt on TV and OTT, and the makers are understandably aiming to bank on the franchise popularity with this decision.

Produced by 14 Reels Plus, the film also features Bajrangi Bhaijaan fame Harshaali Malhotra as part of the lead cast. Thaman S, who composed music for Balakrishna’s previous outing Daaku Maharaaj, is also the music director for Akhanda 2

With Sharwanand starrer Biker postponing their film’s release, Akhanda 2 will now enjoy a solo run at the ticket counters, with no major stiff competition in Telugu speaking states, besides Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandar to an extent that’s too mounted as a big-scale release.

Boyapati Srinu’s previous film Skanda was a commercial failure.
