The trailer of Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu’s highly anticipated Akhanda 2: Thandavam was released on Friday in Bengaluru. Balakrishna, along with the film’s team, has been participating in promotional activities in the city, while Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar attended the event as the chief guest. One look at the trailer and it’s clear that the film aims to deliver a grand visual spectacle — especially the Kumbh Mela sequences, which look spectacular on screen.
This time, Boyapati expands his canvas even further. When foreign forces threaten India, Balakrishna’s character speaks fiercely about Sanatana Dharma and references the idea of a ‘surgical strike.’ From the scale, the vision, and the intense tone, the trailer promises a larger-than-life experience, suggesting that the Balakrishna-Boyapati combination is once again poised to shake the box office — not just in the Telugu states but across other regions too.
Balakrishna delivers several powerful dialogues, and he appears in dual roles yet again. Samyuktha, going by her look in the trailer, seems to be playing a police officer. From Akhanda to this sequel, Boyapati appears to have broadened his narrative scope to an international level. Aadhi Pinisetty also plays a crucial character, adding weight to the cast.
The trailer blends not only intense social drama but also Boyapati’s signature elements — supernatural themes, tantric sequences, and stylized action. Regardless of the genre mix, this is easily one of the most impactful trailers released in recent times. Balakrishna shines in his Aghora avatar; it is evident that he has completely immersed himself in the role, which again seems to be pivotal to the narrative.
Akhanda 2: Thandavam is set for release on December 5. Produced by Ram and Gopi Achanta on a massive scale, the film will hit theatres in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam.
