Nearly four to five films released this Friday, including those headlined by seasoned actors like Raj Tarun, Priyadarshi, and Allari Naresh. Yet, unexpectedly, it was the modestly made Raju Weds Rambai, featuring newcomers Akhil Raj and Tejaswi Rao, that garnered a strong response at the box office.
Inspired by a real incident in Telangana, the film marks Saailu Kampati’s directorial debut. It is produced by Venu Ugudula, Rahul Mopidevi, while well-known distributors Bunny Vasu and Vamsi Nandipati, along with popular OTT platform ETV Win, extended solid backing.
The film opened to positive word of mouth on Friday, particularly in Telangana, where it is already moving towards hit status. It registered an impressive Rs 1.47 crore gross on its opening day across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Strong audience feedback from early shows helped the film begin its theatrical journey on a high note. If the trend continues, trade analysts predict that the film will maintain its steady run and post robust numbers in the coming days.
The lead pair, Akhil Raj and Tejaswi Rao, are receiving widespread appreciation for their performances. The surprise package of the film is undoubtedly Chaitanya Jonnalagadda, brother of actor Siddhu Jonnalagadda.
