Senior and versatile actor Mohan Babu, born Manchu Bhaktavatsalam Naidu, has been a towering figure in South Indian cinema for five decades. His screen name was given by his mentor and godfather, the legendary director Dasari Narayana Rao. Dasari not only introduced him to films but also named his character Mohan in the actor’s debut movie, which released on November 22, 1975 — marking the beginning of a remarkable journey.

To commemorate Mohan Babu’s 50-year milestone, his son Vishnu Manchu is hosting a grand celebratory evening for industry colleagues, well-wishers, and close family members. The event is scheduled to take place at a star hotel in Jubilee Hills this evening (Saturday). Apart from prominent personalities from the Telugu film industry, several celebrities from other film industries are also set to grace the occasion.

According to a source, the event has a white-themed dress code, and guests are expected to arrive in elegant white outfits. The source further revealed that Superstar Rajinikanth, a close friend of Mohan Babu, will be attending the celebration. It is learnt that Rajinikanth has already reached Hyderabad and is staying at the same hotel where the event will be held.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is also expected to attend the function, making the evening even more special. Telugu actors Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, and several other prominent personalities are likely to join the celebrations to congratulate Mohan Babu on this landmark achievement. Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, along with several political leaders from both Telugu states and other regions, is also expected to be present, the source added. Chiranjeevi is not in the city, so he may not attend this event, added the source.
