Priyadarshi Pulikonda: I am not a cost-failure hero

Actor Priyadarshi Pulikonda said he always prioritises the producer’s interests and ensures that no one incurs losses when they make films with him. Although Darling was a disaster at the box office, Priyadarshi maintains that it was still a profitable venture for the producer.

Actor Priyadarshi Pulikonda’s film Premante released on Friday and received mixed reviews. The actor reiterated that his first priority is that the producer should never face losses because of his films. When asked about his earlier film Darling, which did not perform well in theatres and was declared a box-office disaster, he insisted that it still made money. “Yes, I can say that Darling was a profitable venture for the producer if you consider its OTT and satellite rights,” said Priyadarshi.

He added that although the film did not run well in theatres, it performed strongly on OTT. “I agree that my earlier films Sarangapani Jathakam, Darling, and Mithra Mandali did not do well and failed at the box office. There are many reasons for those failures, but I am not a cost-failure hero,” he said.

Priyadarshi shared that audiences often feel he is constantly trying something new in his films. “I always listen to stories from the audience’s perspective and think about how I can offer something different. We have so many good stories with us, and I have earned recognition for doing varied roles. So I always try to gain respect and goodwill through my performances,” he added.

Speaking about his upcoming projects, the actor revealed that he has signed two films — Asamardhudu and Suyodhana. “The first one is a political thriller with a serious subject, and the second one is also a thriller,” said Priyadarshi.
