There have been many instances of late where film personalities made tall, often extreme statements to promote their movies. Rajendra Prasad said at the Maas Jathara event that if the film was not a blockbuster, he would leave the industry. The Ravi Teja–Sreeleela starrer unfortunately did not perform well at the box office. Now, the director of Raju Weds Rambai Saailu Kampati has also made a sensational declaration at his film’s pre-release event.
The story revolves around a young couple, Raju and Rambai, set in a rural backdrop and isbased on a true incident that took place in Telangana. Director Saailu mentioned that he heard some people were already passing negative comments about the film, which might be why he chose to make such a statement. “Some people say this is just another village story. Yes, I am from a village, and I love my village, its people. And I will continue telling stories from there. Our film doesn’t have a hero arriving by helicopter or metro train — it has auto drivers and college-going girls,” said Saailu.
The director further added that he has no issue if someone personally doesn’t like the film, but he urged people not to spread negativity. “If you don’t like the film, it’s okay. But please don’t spread negativity. If negative talk spreads after the release on the 21st, I will walk in just my underwear at Ameerpet Junction. That’s my challenge,” stated Saailu. He repeated this challenge several times during the event.
Saailu added that this love story had remained untold for 15 years, and the team worked day and night to bring it to life. He assured that while watching the film, audiences will be reminded of their college days, their village, their friends, and their own love stories.
Venu Udugula is producing the film in association with ETV Win. Tejaswi Rao and Akhil Raj play the lead roles.
