Nagarjuna is all set to begin work on his 100th film. Tentatively titled King100, the project is being directed by Tamil filmmaker R Karthik, who has also penned the story. For over a year, Karthik has been fine-tuning the script to match Nagarjuna’s style and body language. The two met several times to discuss the story, and a few days ago, they finally locked it. The project was launched with a low-key muhurtham puja ceremony five weeks ago.
There is growing speculation about the cast of Nagarjuna’s milestone project. According to sources, the story revolves around the bond between two friends, and the director has now brought in Ravindra Vijay to play Nagarjuna’s companion. Although the role was initially considered for another actor, Karthik reportedly chose Ravindra Vijay, who has recently been gaining recognition in Telugu cinema. He was seen in films like Ghaati and Kothapallilo Okkapudu earlier this year.
The film deals with a mature subject, focusing on friendship and life’s journey, rather than a typical romantic plot. Rumors suggest there may be three female leads, with Tabu possibly being one of them. However, the makers have not officially confirmed any details about the cast or crew.
Producing it under his own Annapurna Studios banner, Nagarjuna is treating his 100th film as a landmark project. He is determined not to compromise on quality, giving special attention to the script and other key elements. During a recent promotional event, when fans eagerly asked about his 100th film, Nagarjuna remained tight-lipped, keeping the project under wraps until everything was finalized. Shooting for the film is expected to commence soon.
Meanwhile, Nagarjuna who has had two major releases this year with Kuberaa and Coolie, is currently busy promoting his earlier classic Shiva, which will arrive in theatres this Friday.
