It seems that Tabu has plans for a major comeback to Telugu cinema next year. Earlier, in June, we had reported about Tabu signing the next project by Puri Jagannadh, which also stars Vijay Sethupathi. The title announcement for it is expected to be made later this month. Now reports are coming in that Tabu is also a part of Nagarjuna’s next project.
Directed by Tamil filmmaker R Karthik, the film marks Nagarjuna’s 100th film as a lead. The shooting for the film commenced after a low-key muhurtham puja ceremony earlier this week. Reportedly, Tabu will be seen in a significant role, although not the romantic lead, in the Nagarjuna starrer.
Tentatively billed as King100 is reportedly a full-fledged action entertainer, with major roles for two other female leads besides Tabu. Nagarjuna is producing the film under his banner Manam Enterprises. Devi Sri Prasad has been signed to compose music. According to reports, King100 is a remake of the 2023 Tamil hit Ayothi, which starred M Sasikumar in the lead.
It is to be noted that Tabu, who was born and brought up in Hyderabad, had worked in a few Telugu films in the mid 1990s before she shifted her focus to Hindi cinema. Three of those films — Ninne Pelladatha, Sisindri, and Aavida Maa Aavide — starred Nagarjuna in the lead.
Tabu’s last Telugu film appearance was in the Allu Arjun starrer Ala Vaikunthapurramloo (2020), which was a massive blockbuster.
