On Tuesday evening, the makers of the Prabhas starrer The Raja Saab shared a special poster on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of Prabhas’ debut in the film industry. A little later, director Maruthi penned a note of gratitude to his lead actor, also informing that Prabhas wrapped up his shoot for the film that’s scheduled to hit theatres on Januaty 9, 2026.
Taking to his X page, Maruthi penned, “23 years back he took his first step into cinema. Today he wraps his journey in The Raja Saab on the same day.” The filmmaker also called himself ‘blessed and fortunate’ to be part of Prabhas’ journey, adding, “I am super sure The Raja Saab will be a completely different energy altogether.”
The filmmaker also promised his audience for a great theatrical experience, adding, “We know the love and impatience — and we promise to deliver nothing but the absolute best….More celebrating days ahead for our Rebel God Devotees.”
It is to be noted that The Raja Saab marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and Maruthi. Produced by People Media Factory, the horror-comedy also stars Sanjay Dutt and Nidhhi Agerwal and marks Telugu debut for Malavika Mohanan.
The trailer of the film, unveiled a few weeks ago, has garnered a lot of attention for its VFX-heavy narrative and Prabhas’s comic, light-hearted avatar.
A few days, The Raja Saab team confirmed a Sankranthi 2026 release, refuting all rumours after a possible postponement. Part of the statement read, "All such rumours regarding a postponement from Sankranthi 2026 are entirely baseless. The Raja Saab will hit theatres worldwide on January 9th, 2026 as officially announced. The post production work is progressing at a brisk pace maintaining the highest technical standards without any delay. Every department is operating in perfect sync to ensure that the film reaches audiences in its most spectacular form."
