Kodama Simham, the 1990 Chiranjeevi movie directed by K Murali Mohan Rao, will have a wide theatrical re-release later this month, on November 21. The announcement came on Friday evening.
In Kodama Simham, Chiranjeevi played Bharath, a Robinhood-styled protagonist with a strong agenda to eradicate societal evils like gambling and prostitution. His dangerous missions eventually lead him down a path of self-discovery as he decides to track down his biological parents, hence embarking on another challenging mission. Marketed as an Indian Cowboy movie catering to mainstream Telugu audience, Kodama Simham was produced by Kaikala Nageswara Rao on a budget of Rs 4 crore, a massive amount for its times. The action-entertainer marked the second collaboration between Chiranjeevi and Murali Mohana Rao after the 1983 film Sangharshana.
Besides Chiranjeevi, the film also starred Radha and Sonam as the female leads and Mohan Babu who earned plenty of acclaim for his performance as the antagonist. Besides attaining box office success, the film also had a major influence on many filmmakers, including SS Rajamouli who used the film as an inspiration for a major sequence in Magadheera years later.
The film was also dubbed in both Hindi and English, under the titles Main Hoon Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi and Hunters of the Indian Treasure, respectively.
