Mahesh Babu’s 2010 film Khaleja will soon have a theatrical re-release, the makers confirmed on Friday. The action-drama that also starred Anushka Shetty in the lead, will hit theatres again on May 30.

Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, Khaleja marked Mahesh Babu’s return to movies after a 3-year hiatus. The film told the story of a taxi driver, who is proclaimed to be the saviour of a village that’s collectively undergoing a mysterious disease. How Raju assumes his new status, and uses it to actually helps the villagers forms the crux of Khaleja. The film also features Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, Shafi, Sunil, Ali, and Subbaraju in supporting roles.

While the film failed at the boxoffice when it first released, Khaleja has gone on to acquire a cult following among Telugu film lovers over last 15 years. The film’s popularity is also boosted because of Mani Sharma’s soundtrack, for which it won a few awards as well.

Khaleja was the second of three collaborations between Mahesh Babu and Trivikram Srinivas, who next worked together only 14 years later in Guntur Kaaram.
