Kannappa, the much-anticipated fantasy drama starring Vishnu Manchu in the lead, was scheduled for a theatrical release on April 25. However, the makers have now decided to postpone their film’s release.

On Saturday, Vishnu Manchu took to his X page to share an apology note, explaining the reasons for release date postponement. He wrote, “Bringing Kannappa to life has been an incredible journey, and we are committed to delivering a cinematic spectacle that meets the highest standards. To ensure this, we need a few more weeks to perfect a key episode requiring extensive VFX work.”

The actor expressed his regret for the delay in film’s release, adding, “Kannappa is a tribute to Lord Shiva's greatest devotee, and we want to present it in the most extraordinary way possible. Our team is working tirelessly and we promise it will be worth it.”

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa features actors like Kajal Aggarwal, Preity Mukundhan, Madhoo, and Mohan Babu in the ensemble cast, besides starring Prabhas, Mohanlal and Akshay Kumar in extended cameos. Based on the epic mythological story of a Shiva devotee after the same name, the film is written by Vishnu Manchu and produced by Mohan Babu under the banners of 24 Frames Factory and AVA Entertainments. The big-scale project has cinematography by Seldon Chau and editing by Anthony Gonsalvez.
