Playback singer Kalpana Raghavendar has been admitted to Holistic Hospital in Nizampet on Tuesday, following an alleged suicide attempt. According to reports, they found her unconscious at her residence after she allegedly consumed sleeping pills.
As per updates, Kalpana had not been responding for two days, prompting security personnel at her apartment complex to inform the residents’ association. When neighbours were unable to reach her by phone, they alerted the police. In a viral video, officers can be seen at the scene forcefully entering her home, where they found her unresponsive. She was immediately rushed to the hospital and is now receiving treatment with ventilator support. Her condition is reported to be stable.
At the time of the incident, her husband was in Chennai. Upon hearing the news, he travelled to Hyderabad. The exact reason behind the suspected suicide attempt remains unclear, and a police investigation is ongoing.
Kalpana, daughter of playback singer TS Raghavendra, has recorded over 1,500 songs in multiple languages. She gained national recognition after winning Star Singer Malayalam in 2010 and has collaborated with composers like Ilaiyaraaja and AR Rahman. She has also served as a judge on music reality shows and participated in Bigg Boss Telugu Season 1.
