Kannappa, starring Vishnu Manchu and directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, continued its theatrical journey into Day 2, registering Rs 7 cr in India on Saturday, according to Sacnilk. This followed a Rs 9.35 cr opening on Friday, bringing the film’s two-day India net total to approximately Rs 16.35 cr.

The period film, which is a period fantasy drama, is based on the epic mythological story of a Shiva devotee of the same name. Vishnu Manchu is also the screenwriter for the film. Kannappa has a massive star cast of Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, Sarath Kumar, Kajal Agarwal, among others. Prabhas makes a cameo appearance in the film as Rudra, which has added significant hype for the film.

Kannappa is helmed by director Mukesh Kumar Singh. The epic project has cinematography by Seldon Chau and editing by Anthony Gonsalvez. The high-scale project is bankrolled by Mohan Babu, father of Manchu Vishnu, under the banners of 24 Frames Factory and AVA Entertainments. The film hit theatres on June 27.

The CE review of Kannappa notes, “Vishnu Manchu’s passion project promises a spiritual spectacle but mostly delivers awkward romance, fake wigs and boredom”.
