Vishnu Manchu starrer Kannappa opened to a lukewarm response on its opening day at the box office on Friday. The mythological fantasy drama is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh.
On Day 1, the film earned Rs 11 crore (gross) at the domestic box office, according to a report from Sacnilk.com. The film’s worldwide collections on day 1 stand at Rs 13 crore.
As per the latest reports, the film has so far collected nearly Rs 2.7 crore at domestic boxoffice, on day 2. Reportedly made on a budget of Rs 180 crore, Kannappa will likely struggle to recover its production costs from theatrical revenues alone.
Bankrolled by Mohan Babu, father of Vishnu Manchu, under the banners of 24 Frames Factory and AVA Entertainments, Kannappa also had an extensive release in Malayalam market as well, considering Mohanlal’s presence in the film.
Vishnu Manchu is also the screenwriter for the film. Additionally, the film boasts of extended cameos from big stars like Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal. Prabhas’ cameo has been registered as one of the biggest strengths of the film. The epic film has cinematography by Sheldon Chau and editing by Anthony Gonsalvez.
