Kannappa, the Vishnu Manchu-starrer released in theatres on June 27, with its premiere shows held in USA on Thursday evening. While the official reviews are still pouring in, the social media is abuzz with strong opinions about the fantasy drama that also stars Prabhas, Akshay Kumar and Mohanlal in extended cameos.

An X user named @ArtistAhad praised the final segment of the film, also lauding the makers for the cameo appearances by Akshay Kumar and Prabhas.

Another user @KumarSwayam3 praised Vishnu Manchu’s performance in the latter portions of the film, alongwith lauding the cameos by Akshay Kumar, Prabhas and Mohanlal. The user added that the second half works better, compared to the first half, praising the background score.

A similar review was posted by 'BalayyaUSA' who acknowledged that while the first hlf is slow, the second half is steeped in devotion, and particularly impressive in the last 20 minutes

An X user named ‘Ashwatthama2898’ posted a sarcastic review, stating that the film becomes interesting only in the last segment once Prabhas’ character makes an arrival.

While most reviews agree on the theatrical impact of Prabhas’ cameo and the cinematic value of the final act of the film, there are plenty of reviews criticising it for its 'slow first half' and 'mediocre' VFX work.

Kannappa is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Mohan Babu under 24 Frames Factory and AVA Entertainments. The film, based on the tale of a devotee of Lord Shiva, is also written by Vishnu.
