A day after Kuberaa’s release, the primary team members of the film including director Sekhar Kammula, producers Suniel Narang and Pushkur Ram Mohan Rao and Nagarjuna interacted with the media, talking about the reception to their film. At the event, Nagarjuna spoke about why he thinks Kuberaa is a story about his character.

Responding to a question about why he accepted the role, Nagarjuna stated, “Right after hearing the story, I felt this is a story about Deepak, my character, and that everyone and everything revolves around him. Maybe other actor has more screentime, but this is Deepak’s film from start to finish.”

Further talking about what appealed to him about Deepak’s character, Nagarjuna said, “The character arc for Deepak is what I liked a lot. Jim Sarbh has done a fantastic job, but his role has a straight arc. Similarly for Dhanush’s character, which doesn’t have a guilt complex or an element of sacrifice. He is a very innocent character, with a single graph. My character has three shades, which Sekhar gaaru wrote beautifully. That’s why I did this film.”

In Kuberaa, Nagarjuna plays an ex-CBI officer who enters the world of crime after being disillusioned with years of injustice. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna in a prominent role.
