The trailer of 8 Vasantalu, a coming-of-age drama written and directed by Phanindra Narsetti, was unveiled on Sunday. The trailer follows the transformative journey of its protagonist, Shuddi Ayodhya, over a span of eight years, from the age of 19 to 27, as she navigates love, heartbreak, family expectations, and personal passions.

Ananthika Sanilkumar, who gained recognition through MAD (2023), plays the lead role. The film is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner.

The trailer of 8 Vasantalu opens with a striking scene in which Shuddi debates with elders over women’s right to perform last rites, declaring, “We give birth and pour life, you think we can’t provide salvation to a soul by lighting a pyre?” It then traces her evolving identity, highlighting her interests in martial arts and writing, alongside her emotional struggles.

The narrative of 8 Vasantalu appears to blend introspective themes with social commentary. The trailer closes on a poignant note with the line, “A man’s love has proofs like monuments in marble and cities named after his lover. What proof is there for a woman’s love? Except for those memories buried within her heart?”

Set for release on June 20, 8 Vasantalu will clash at the box office with Kuberaa, starring Dhanush and directed by Sekhar Kammula.

8 Vasantalu marks a return for Phanindra Narsetti, known for his previous independent films Backspace (2012), Madhuram(2014), and the crowd-funded Manu (2018). Cinematography is by Vishwanath Reddy, while music is composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab.
