Mallidi Vassishta, the director of Chiranjeevi starrer Vishwambhara, which is yet to get a release date, has been talking about the film across interview. In a recent interaction with Gulte, the director said, “We are always talking about our cinema being inspired by Hollywood’s visuals, but nobody is talking about Hollywod also getting inspired from us. Do you know we had Hulk before them, Mahabaludu (1969) was a film Krishna gaaru did. Even Hollowman (2000), Krishna gaaru did a version of that in Sabash Satyam (1969). And travelling on a broomstick was in our older films, but Harry Potter did that later.”
The Bimbisara director highlighted that Telugu cinema always depicted ahead-of-its-time visual style and fantasy creatures. He talked about the depiction of Pegasus in Vishwambhara and added, “In our film, people thought we were inspired by Hollywood for the Keelugurram (Pegasus), no we were inspired by our Puranas and older classic films.”
Vishwambhara’s teaser came out nine months ago and received backlash from audiences for its dated VFX, and people particularly talked about the visual style. Taking the feedback seriously, makers of the film have invested lot of time and resources and are said to be crafting top-notch visuals. The director revealed that 4600 VFX shots are there in the film. Recently he also shared a still of Chiranjeevi announcing the last schedule of the film, where Chiranjeevi is set to shake a leg for a special song with Mouni Roy.
Vishwambhara features Trisha Krishnan in the lead role, alongside Aashika Ranganath, Kunal Kapoor, Ramya Pasupaleti, Esha Chawla, and Ashrita Vemuganti Nanduri. The socio-fantasy drama is backed by UV Creations.
Cinematography is by Chota K Naidu, and sets are designed by AS Kumar. The film is produced by V Vamsi Krishna Reddy, Pramod Uppalapati, and Vikram Reddy. The makers are yet to announce a release date.
