Nara Rohith’s 20th feature film Sundarakanda is set for a worldwide theatrical release on August 27, aligning with the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday. The midweek release aims to capitalise on the long weekend, giving the light-hearted drama a strong opening window at the box office. Makers made the announcement on Nara Rohith's birthday on Friday.

Written and directed by debutant Venkatesh Nimmalapudi, Sundarakanda presents Rohith as Sidharth, a neurotic yet endearing middle-aged bachelor on the hunt for companionship. The narrative explores two different phases in Sidharth’s life, featuring actors Sridevi Vijaykumar and Vriti Vaghani as his love interests. While one thread taps into the innocence of first love, the other hints at a mature relationship and a second shot at happiness.

Produced under the banner Sandeep Picture Palace (SPP), Sundarakanda is backed by Santosh Chinnapolla, Gowtham Reddy, and Rakesh Mahankalli. The team released the film’s teaser in August last year, introducing audiences to its blend of humour and introspection, wrapped around the protagonist’s search for connection.

Leon James has composed the music, with the first single, ‘Bahusa Bahusa’ sung by Sid Sriram, released. The film’s visuals are handled by cinematographer Pradeesh M Varma, while Rohan Chillale is the editor, and Rajesh Pentakota leads art direction. The cast includes Naresh Vijaya Krishna, Vasuki Anand, Satya, Ajay, VTV Ganesh, Abhinav Gomatam, Viswant, Rupa Lakshmi, Sunaina, and Raghu Babu.
