Vishnu Manchu’s period epic Kannappa was screened at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi in an event reportedly attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Taking to social media, Vishnu wrote, “Honoured beyond words! Kannappa received a special screening at Rashtrapati Bhavan, a proud recognition of its devotion‑driven storytelling and cultural significance.”
The dignitaries in attendance reportedly appreciated the film’s spiritual resonance, emotional depth, and grand visual scale. Released in multiple Indian languages on June 27, Kannappa explores the legend of the Shiva devotee of the same name, presenting it as a period fantasy drama.
Vishnu Manchu stars as the titular character and also served as the screenwriter for the film, which was produced by his father, Mohan Babu, under the banners of 24 Frames Factory and AVA Entertainments. The cast includes Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, Sarath Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal, with Prabhas appearing in a cameo as Rudra.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film showcases cinematography by Seldon Chau and editing by Anthony Gonsalvez. Its expansive production values have drawn attention, contributing to its pan‑India release.
The CE review of Kannappa notes, “Vishnu Manchu’s passion project promises a spiritual spectacle but mostly delivers awkward romance, fake wigs and boredom”.
