The official trailer of Kothapallilo Okappudu was released on Thursday. The upcoming rural satire is slated for a theatrical release on July 18.

Presented by Rana Daggubati, Kothapallilo Okappudu promises to tell the story of a village brimming with quirky characters, and how a sudden arrival of a supernatural force creates further chaos in the village’s functioning. The film’s debutant protagonist Manoj Chandra plays a dance organiser who is looking for a dancer, while also relentlessly trying to woo a local village girl named Savitri. Ravindra Vijay, meanwhile, plays a greedy money lender. However, the entire village is compelled to rethink their religious and superstitious beliefs after an untoward incident occurs.

The film also marks the debuts for its female leads Monika T and Usha Bonela. The ensemble cast includes Babu Mohan, Benerjee, Bongu Satti, Phani, Premsagar. Earlier this week, the team had released character posters for its leading cast, highlighting their defining quirks and traits.

Kothapallilo Okappudu marks the directorial debut for Praveena Paruchuri, who is known as the producer for acclaimed films like C/o Kancharapalem and Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya.  Praveena is also co-producing the film in association with Gopalakrishna Paruchuri under Paruchuri Vijaya Praveena Arts banner.

Mani Sharma is onboard as the song composer, while Varun Unni is composing the background score. The film’s story and dialogues are penned by Gurukiran Bathula. Cinematography is handled by LA-based director of photography Petros Antoniadis. Editing is by Kiran R, who is also credited as the ‘creative director.’ Jitendra Mourya and Vishal Gyanchandani are co-credited as production designers.

With the release of Naresh Agastya-starrer Meghalu Cheppina Prema Katha standing postponed, Kothapallilo Okappudu remains the only major Telugu film release next week.
