The release date for Rana Daggubati’s next film as a presenter, Kothapallilo Okappudu, was announced a few days ago. On Tuesday, the team unveiled a new character poster featuring Monika T who is making her Telugu debut with the film.
Rana shared the poster on his X, adding the caption, “Meet our Savitri, the village belle, and our Ramakrishna's lover. Confusion is her name, and causing chaos is her game.”
Earlier, on July 4, the Kothapallilo Okappudu makers had also unveiled a brief teaser of their film, which introduces its protagonist Ramakrishna (Manoj Chandra), a recording dance organiser who performs across villages. Touted as a rural satire, the film will promisingly follow his efforts to find a new dancer for an upcoming event after signing a contract with a neighbouring village. However, a humorous misunderstanding unfolds when he’s seen chasing a woman in the village, leading the community to question his intentions.
The film marks the directorial debut of Praveena Paruchuri, who has earlier produced acclaimed films like C/o Kancharapalem and Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya. Incidentallya, Rana Daggubati was also the presenter for C/o Kancharapalem.
The ensemble cast of the film includes Ravindra Vijay, Usha Bonela, Benerjee, Bongu Satti, Phani, and Premsagar.
The film’s story and dialogues are penned by Gurukiran Bathula. It is produced under the Paruchuri Praveena Vijaya Arts banner. Cinematography is handled by LA-based director of photography Petros Antoniadis, while music is composed by veteran composer Mani Sharma.
Kothapallilo Okappudu is scheduled for theatrical release on July 18. As of yet, it is the only big Telugu release that weekend.
Rana Daggubati's other films as a presenter include Pareshan, Keedaa Cole, and 35 - Chinna Katha Kaadu. As an actor, he was recently seen headling the second season of the web series Rana Naidu.
