Following Venkatesh’s recent announcement at the NATS 2025 event that he is set to collaborate with Nandamuri Balakrishna in a multi-starrer, industry reports suggest the film in question could be Aditya 999, the long-awaited sequel to the 1991 sci-fi classic Aditya 369.
According to sources, Venkatesh is being considered for a special cameo appearance in the film. While there has been no official confirmation from the actor or the production team, the news has sparked interest among fans who are eager to see the two veterans share screen space once again.
Aditya 999 is being planned to serve as the launchpad for Balakrishna’s son, Mokshagna. The sequel has been under discussion for years and is reportedly being developed with significant creative inputs from Balakrishna himself. The project is aimed at reviving the legacy of Aditya 369, directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, which became a cult favourite for its pioneering time-travel concept in Indian cinema.
Last year, Balakrishna while hosting his show, Unstoppable with NBK Season 4, came dressed as an ageing astronaut, where he confirmed the sequel’s development. While details regarding the film’s director and production house remain under wraps, Balakrishna is believed to be closely overseeing the scripting process.
If confirmed, Venkatesh’s presence in Aditya 999 would add weight to the film’s ensemble and raise expectations, especially among fans of both stars. The film is currently in pre-production, and further announcements are expected in the coming months.
Balakrishna is also gearing up for the release of Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, a spiritual action drama scheduled to hit theatres on September 25. And Venkatesh recently shot with Chiranjeevi on Mega157.
