Bobby Kolli, who has previously made films like Sardaar Gabbar Singh and Waltair Veerayya, is coming up with his next feature Daaku Maharaaj, the Balakrishna-starrer that hits on January 12. During a recent media interaction, the filmmaker spoke about his conscious attempt to showcase the Akhanda actor in a subtle manner.

Talking about his film’s making, Bobby said, “It is a story focused on the transformation of the protagonist Sitaram into Daaku Maharaaj. We’ve created a technically polished film while focusing on subtle filmmaking.”

Explaining how Balakrishna’s role in Daaku Maharaaj stands out in his filmography, Bobby said, “If you notice, there’s often a particular loudness in Balakrishna’s recent performances. In Daaku Maharaaj, we have attempted a more subtle and settle portrayal. We did not focus on any over-the-top action sequences, and our storytelling is grounded in realism.” The filmmaker also mentioned Simha as a particular favourite Balakrishna performance, calling it ‘subtle yet impactful.’

Also starring Shraddha Srinath, Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal, and Chandini Chowdary, Daaku Maharaaj will reportedly release in more than 3000 screens.
