Sekhar Kammula’s Godavari rereleasing in 4K

The classic film stars Kamalinee Mukherjee and Sumanth in lead roles

The subtle romantic drama, Godavari, which released in 2006, became a modern-day classic film among Telugu audiences. The Sekhar Kammula directorial is getting a re-release on March 1 in theatres. 

Godavari stars Kamilinee Mukherjee and Sumanth Akkineni in lead roles. The film revolves around Sita (Kamilinee Mukherjee), who boards a river cruise ship that travels from Rajamundry to Bhadrachalam. There she meets Sriram (Sumanth), whom she falls for. The classic film deals with many themes like class division, gender politics, and a grounded romance in the backdrop of the Godavari River. The film received unanimous critical acclaim for its rooted characters and modern sensibilities. 

Godavari’s music, composed by KM Radha Krishnan, became a blockbuster during its release. The songs became a testament to romance over time. The classic film was bankrolled by GV Raju under SSC Arts. Vijay C. Kumar cranked the camera while Marthand K. Venkatesh edited the film.
