The decision of Akhanda 2 makers releasing their film on December 12, after settling the legal dispute with Eros, has expectedly caused major ripples in the industry. While Psych Siddhartha team postponed their released by three weeks, Mowgli team has another plans in mind.

Instead of arriving worldwide on December 12 as planned earlier, Mowgli will now have a release on December 13, hence avoiding a direct clash with Akhanda 2. However, there will be premiere shows on December 12, although more details about the scale of this plan are yet to be shared.

Starring Roshan Kanakala, Sakkshi Mhadolkar, and Bandi Saroj Kumar in the lead roles, Mowgli is directed by Sandeep Raj who is known for his debut film Colour Photo. People Media Factory is bankrolling the project. The music direction is by Kaala Bhairava.

There is no doubt that the unexpected release date shift of Akhanda 2 will cause huge financial overheads for other upcoming films that need to relook at their marketing plans. In a poignant social media post yesterday, Sandeep Raje expressed his sadness at the idea of Mowgli not getting an ideal release despite having a hard-working team at hand. Earlier on Monday, Bandi Saroj Kumar, who plays the antagonist in the film, condemned the Akhanda 2 team for delaying the new release date announcement, and causing financial stress to other films that had locked the date weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Eesha, another of Telugu films that was initially slated to release this week, is likely to postpone its release too.
