The combination of Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, was initially slated for release on December 5 but was postponed indefinitely due to financial issues. A Bollywood production house, Eros, secured an injunction against the film's release from the Chennai High Court, which further delayed its launch.

Following this setback, several prominent industry figures, including D. Suresh Babu, Mythri Movie Makers, Dil Raju, and others, have been in discussions with the financiers and producers of Akhanda 2 to resolve the issue at the earliest. According to a source, the issue is expected to be resolved by Monday, and the makers may soon announce a new release date.

"December 12 is likely the ideal date for the film's release. Given that several smaller films are also planning their releases, the makers want to avoid disrupting their schedules. Hence, December 12 is the target date for Akhanda 2’s new release," said a producer close to the film's team and financiers.

Meanwhile, some distributors are advocating for a release on December 24 to capitalize on the Christmas holiday long weekend. However, Balakrishna’s fans on social media have been vocal in their support for the December 12 release, with the hashtag #WeWantAkhanda2OnDec12th gaining traction.
